Metal roofing can provide many benefits to those who choose to use it for their roof. In this day and age, property owners are constantly looking for innovative and cost-effective ways to enhance their property’s value and beauty and, at Titan Exteriors™, we’d love the opportunity to meet with you and discuss the various aspects of metal roofing as they relate to your specific application.

Metal roofs are becoming an increasingly popular alternative roofing material for those who are tired of the short life and somewhat ordinary look of some other roofing materials. More and more, metal roofing products are being selected by both residential and commercial property owners, and everyone can find the metal roof that’s right for them.

Some of the Benefits of Metal Roofing:
- They seal out water
- They are easy to clear snow off of
- They are totally fire resistant
- They are mildew and rot resistant
- They have a life expectancy of over 30 years to Life
- They are virtually maintenance-free
- They are extremely wind resistant, having passed wind and uplift tests in excess of 150 miles per hour
- They are considerably lighter than other roofing materials, requiring no additional structural support
- They come in sheets and sections, allowing for a quick installation process
- They can be manufactured to deliver virtually any look conceivable
- They are astoundingly energy efficient

Metal roofs are one of the most practical and long lasting roofing solutions available to property owners today. Above is just a short list of the many benefits metal roofing provides for those who choose it for their roof. As many people are already realizing, the dramatic rise in the popularity of metal roofs tells us there is no doubt that metal roofing is the wave of the roofing future. Once introduced into a neighborhood, it doesn’t take long before metal roofing becomes the standard by which all other roofs and roofing products are judged.

Energy benefits of metal roofing

The finish of your metal roof is the source of its energy efficiency. An unpainted metal roof will reflect the majority of the solar radiation that would otherwise be absorbed by your roof and attic with a regular asphalt roof. Granular coated and painted metal roofing systems not only reflect solar energy, they also re-emit this absorbed radiation which, in return, also cools your home or business. A highly reflective metal roof is capable of re-emitting up to 90% of the absorbed radiation and, in doing so, this can greatly reduce energy consumption. It has been estimated that the installation of a metal roof can save many property owners approximately 40 percent of cooling costs throughout the hot summers that Tennessee experiences. Furthermore, an emissive metal roof can reduce the air temperature in your home or business by 12 degrees Fahrenheit.

Common TYPE OF METAL Roofing Materials

CORRUGATED METAL ROOFING

Corrugated metal roofing, as its name would suggest, takes on the ridged format similar to that found in corrugated cardboard. The ridges in its interior are what provides the strength and rigidity to the roofing panel. Various types of substances can be employed in corrugated metal roofing, including aluminum, galvanized metal, copper, and stainless steel. While this type of roofing system is (and can be) used in both residential and commercial applications, it has recently become the roofing material of choice for many homeowners. Once introduced into a neighborhood, other homeowners are impressed with the look and durability it offers, and they, too, make it their choice of roofing material when it comes time to replace their roofing system.

Corrugated metal roofs are completely recyclable and their high reflectivity provides for reduced energy costs, making this option a very environmentally-friendly one. Also, leaks arising from a properly installed corrugated metal roof system are virtually nonexistent. It should be noted, however, that this type of roofing, in certain instances, may be succeptible to dents and dings from hailstorms.

METAL SHAKE

Metal Shake roofing offers all the style and visual appeal of traditional Wood Shake, but with a longer user life, greater fire resistance, and an easier installation. This roofing material also comes in a wide range of textures, styles, and colors, ensuring the property owner that any look they wish to achieve for their structure can be easily accomplished.

R-PANEL

The R-Panel is used in both residential and commercial roofing projects, and its wide array of styles, colors, finishes, lengths and thicknesses allow for implementation in nearly any setting or situation. The R-Panel system has an environmentally-safe foamed plastic in the interior of the panels, and it offers higher thermal insulation value over most if not every other type of roofing system. Application is achieved by adhesives (either hot or cold) or mechanical fasteners.

SNAP-LOCK (our preferred “STANDING-SEAM” product)

Snap-lock roofing systems, also known as standing-seam roofing systems, have been in residential and commercial use for over 100 years. The snap-lock or standing-seam roofing system is secured to the roof deck through the use of concealed clips. The clips are affixed to the roof deck, and panels are then secured to these clips, allowing for the panels to expand and contract with daily and seasonal temperature changes.

In residential use, this roofing application offers a wide array of attractive styles, colors, textures, and finishes, and allows for quick installation. Also, the security and durability ratings are impressive — these systems have successfully tested out in high wind conditions in excess of 200 miles per hour!

Snap-lock or standing-seam metal roofs generally require little to no maintenance. They are very durable and highly resistant to weather-related damage, including hail, wind-driven rain, and high winds. They are fire-resistant, they will not shrink or crack, and they reflect a significant amount of sunlight, thereby reducing energy costs.

TUFF RIB

Tuff-Rib roofing panels are as durable as they are versatile. They come in a wide range of colors, styles, and thicknesses, making them an excellent choice for any residential or commercial application. Tuff-Rib roofing panels have been employed with outstanding levels of success in some of this nation’s harshest weather environments, and homeowners and business owners alike sing the praises of this product.
